Navy experts focus on trusted computing software development tools as the service sails into DevSecOps

8 Feb. 2021 -- The Navy has launched a new software development tools platform called Black Pearl and established a task force for DevSecOps implementation to focus efforts on DevSecOps, which is short for development, security, and operations.

The Navy has struggled with cyber security in its own ranks and with its contractors, and DevSecOps is one route to address persistent challenges. Black Pearl hosts products and software practices to enable Navy coders to make secure products. The program is similar to the Air Force’s Platform One and uses some of its products.

The Navy is trying to quit being redundant or inefficient in adopting what other services have already accomplished as experts adopt new software practices.
