JGR Optics offers MBR1 – Multi-Channel Backreflection Meter

Sept. 23, 2021
A follow-on from the company’s MBR5 system, the MBR1 features improved electronics that extends the back reflection dynamic range to -85 dB.

JGR Optics Inc. says it now offers the MBR1 – Multi-channel Backreflection Meter. A follow-on from the company’s MBR5 system, the MBR1 features improved electronics that extends the back reflection dynamic range to -85 dB.

The MBR1 uses optical continuous wave reflectometer (OCWR) technology to provide what JGR asserts is the simplest, most reliable, and most cost-effective option available for cable assembly testing. The company states that OCWR is particularly well suited to such applications as short component assemblies or customized, nonstandard products.

The MBR1 is compatible with the company’s GMS software to enable customized test automation. The MBR1 also can be equipped with custom fiber core sizes such as 5-µm flexcore and 100-µm and 200-µm fiber, among others. Customized sources also are available.

The unit also adopts features that JGR introduced the RL1 – Automated Return Loss Meter. These attributes include a 5-inch touch screen and Ethernet/USB communication.
